VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

In May of 2020, Midland County experienced history: a devastating flood on top of a global pandemic.

The process of rebuilding is not a quick fix. It is a daily decision to come together to raise our hands.

This is where you can make a huge difference. Now—more than ever—businesses, organizations and agencies need volunteers who are willing to step in to fill the gaps.

United Way of Midland County is working diligently with the community to identify needs and volunteer opportunities. We serve as communicator and coordinator of connecting volunteers with those in our backyard who need support.

If you are interested in volunteering, please view opportunities and register below.

VOLUNTEER SAFETY AND HEALTH

Your safety and health are our top priorities. In collaboration with partner agencies, schools, businesses, organizations and municipalities, United Way of Midland County is dedicated to providing the safest volunteer environment we can, along with safety plans for each event.

Please note:

  • Flexibility. Our nonprofit partners may need to cancel volunteer shifts, which includes ensuring proper social distancing is maintained. Please enter your cell phone number when registering for text alerts and check your email for any updates to volunteer shifts you may have signed up for, should there be a change.
  • Masks Required. While United Way of Midland County requires volunteers to adhere to the CDC guidelines and wear a mask in public, you will be volunteering and attending an event that is not staffed by United Way and might encounter people who choose not to wear a mask or face covering or medically cannot tolerate a mask or face covering. If, at any time at the event, you do not feel comfortable or safe, we respect your feelings and offer you the choice to leave the event. Volunteering is a personal decision, and we encourage all volunteers to only participate if they feel safe and comfortable.
  • Stay Home if Sick. If you (or someone you have been in close proximity with) have shown symptoms of illness (such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, etc.) or fall within a demographic that is listed as higher risk by the CDC, we ask that you refrain from volunteering at this time.
  • Wash your hands. Please wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue.
  • Stay Informed. For additional resources and preventative tips, please visit the CDC website.
