SENIOR SERVICES
TRANSPORTATION DRIVERS
As a vital part of Senior Services' mission to help older adults remain independent, the organization maintains a volunteer team. Often time it becomes difficult for older adults to get to the places they need whether it's a trip to the doctor's office or a ride to the grocery store.
Since the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic began, the need for transportation drivers has grown. Many of the current volunteers are part of the older population (65+) who are most vulnerable to the effects of Coronavirus and some of them are not comfortable volunteering. Senior Services does have safety protocols to keep drivers and clients safe. The big need right now is recruiting drivers for the wheelchair accessible vans including maneuvering and strapping down wheelchairs. Drivers generally volunteer one day a week Monday through Friday.
By registering below, you are showing your interest in being contacted by the Senior Services Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager, Tina Podboy-Laughner, to set up a ride-along with an experienced driver so you understand the process.
