Equity Challenge

After an unprecedented 2020, we look to this new year with fresh eyes.

Now, more than ever, it is important to focus on the lens in which we see and understand world…and each other.

Action begins with awareness. Together, we can take steps to continue building a community that is committed to improving equity and inclusion.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month, United Way of Midland County is hosting a 10-Day Virtual Equity Challenge. Facilitated by Kathy Snyder and Kimberly Houston.

We invite you to join us. This challenge is a powerful opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect our lives and community. Here’s how it will work:

  • February 1: From 12:00 - 12:30pm, attend a 30-minute Virtual Challenge Kick-Off that launches our journey together.
  • February 1-11: Receive an email each weekday that challenges you to learn about a new topic, such as personal racial identity, understanding privilege, bias, segregation, and more.
  • February 12: From 11:00 -1:00pm, participate in the Virtual Equity Summit for a time intentional storytelling that inspires action.

As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”  Let us use our voices.
